The Ministry of Health announced the expiry of thousands of vaccination records on Wednesday. 75,000 vaccinated people will soon be unvaccinated and will be back in lockdown.
Anyone who received a one-off Janssen vaccination (Johnson & Johnson) will lose their validity in the Green Passport on January 3, 2022 and are therefore considered unvaccinated – “Today” reported. “Today” did the math: 260,000 people were vaccinated with Johnson & Johnson, of which around 75,000 did not take any further vaccinations. These 75,000 people, even if they do not have any further vaccinations on January 2nd, have to enter the lockdown for unvaccinated persons.
Another Janssen vaccination can be taken at least 28 days after the first vaccination. “From a medical point of view, this procedure makes sense – especially because of the current spread of the Omikron variant – and is also recommended by the National Vaccination Committee,” says the Ministry of Health. For further vaccination, an EMA-approved mRNA vaccine – BioNTech / Pfizer or Moderna – should preferably be used, they say.
Soon in lockdown for the unvaccinated
Incidentally, all Janssen vaccinated persons were informed about this procedure in November with a personally addressed reminder. All 260,000 people who were vaccinated received it, but around 75,000 people apparently did not respond. The ministry points out that without further vaccination, the vaccination certificate in the “Green Passport” will be switched from green to red – they will then fall under the lockdown rules for unvaccinated people.
The ministry said: As of December 28, 2021, a total of 16,326,447 vaccine doses were administered, of which 3,611,844 people received a third dose. 6,304,354 people have an active certificate of vaccination (70.58% of the total population and 74.18% of the vaccinable population). 6,604,449 people have received at least one vaccination (73.94% of the total population and 77.71% of the vaccinable population).
