After years of work, the Demining and Amphibious Engineers Battalion of the Colombian Navy has managed to declare the region free of suspected antipersonnel mines.
The official handover of this liberated territory took place in the municipality of El Carmen de Bolívar, in a ceremony full of emotion and hope for the 2.5 million residents of the Colombian Caribbean.
For nearly 15 years, 2,250 Marines have worked tirelessly in the task of demining, facing a constant and dangerous challenge. His bravery and dedication bore fruit: 251 explosive devices that posed a threat to the life and safety of the community were found and destroyed.

The impact of this work is immense. With 770 square kilometers now free of suspected mines, residents of the region can return to their homes with peace of mind to know that they are out of danger.
