New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is ready to provide all the necessary assistance to make the media and entertainment sector a huge sector worth Rs 8 lakh crore by 2030, said the department’s secretary, Apoorva Chandra.

A seminar of experts in fields including Film, ‘TV’ and Radio, ‘Digital’ Entertainment, ‘Animation, Gaming, Visual Effects’ was recently held in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The event was inaugurated by the Central Information and Broadcasting Department Secretary Apoorva Chandra. He then said: The Central Government has initiated efforts to attract foreign investments in the film industry.

Incentive amount

For this, various film departments of the government have been brought under the National Film Development Corporation (NFTC). NFTC’s Mumbai office will be the center for this. Through this, various foreign companies will be welcomed to invest in our country’s films. Plans are being made in collaboration with state governments to encourage foreign film production companies to shoot in our country. At the recent Cannes Film Festival in France, we announced a scheme to provide incentives for foreign film shoots in India.

This will attract a lot of foreign production companies to our country. In the last 5-6 years, the habit of people coming to theaters and watching movies is decreasing significantly. This should be restored. A single window system will be introduced for foreign companies to invest in our country’s theatres. Through this, investments are attracted and the number of theaters is planned to increase. There is also a plan to open model theaters. This work will be done hand in hand with the state government.

‘Housebull’

After the spread of the corona virus, there have been significant changes in people’s movie watching habits. Recently, when the cinema ticket price was reduced to Rs 75, all the shows became ‘housebull’. This shows that people are willing to come to the cinema if the price is acceptable to them. The interest in watching movies in the theater has not decreased among the people. Like the revolution in the information technology industry 20 years ago, AVGC, known as ‘Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics’, is about to undergo a great revolution.

Nowadays, most of the visual effects of ‘Hollywood’ films are done in various Indian cities, including Bengaluru, Karnataka. Therefore, the central government has appointed a special committee to study this AVGC. The committee has 15 days to submit its recommendation. Based on this, sector-specific projects will be implemented.

The central government has decided to open a special center related to the AVGC sector in collaboration with a private company. The cost of ‘mobile data’ is very low in India as compared to the rest of the world. This bodes well for the media and film industry. The technology to watch movies on ‘mobile phones’ without the need for mobile data is coming soon.

Broadcast live

Through this technology jointly developed by Prasar Bharati and IIT, Kanpur, the technology to broadcast 200 ‘TV’ channels and movies directly on mobile phones is ready. By 2030, the media and entertainment sector is expected to become a huge industry worth 8 lakh crore rupees. The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is ready to provide all assistance, he said.
