8 people are getting Greenman Award for environmental protection

In environmental protection, various organizations, researchers and media workers are performing their responsibilities from their respective workplaces. Every year on the anniversary of the founding of the Green Movement, the Greenman Award is given to eminent citizens for their contribution to the environment. This year the award is given to eight distinguished citizens who have made special contributions to environmental protection. Four of them are researchers and four are media workers.

According to the press release of the Green Movement on Thursday (August 29), the Greenman Award will be given at the National Press Club on September 1 at 10 am.

Who are receiving the Greenman Award now:
Dr. Mujibur Rahman Hawladar is the former chairman of Bangladesh River Protection Commission. During his tenure, he tried his best to manage the river, restore the river and protect the river from pollution.

Professor of Zoology Department of Dhaka University. Mohammad Feroz Zaman has been researching wildlife and environment for a long time. He gives various suggestions to increase the reproduction and conservation of wildlife through university research in coordination with students.

Dhaka University Law Department Assistant Professor Md. Golam Saroar is working to create awareness among the students about the environment laws besides creating public awareness for environment protection. He played a vocal role in collecting international climate funds on behalf of Bangladesh at various times at home and abroad.

Ashikur Rahman Sami is working as an independent researcher after completing his research from Zoology Department of Dhaka University. His research highlights the improvement of the quality of life of the people of Haor, Baor and coastal areas. He is creating public awareness by creating new ideas in wildlife research.

SM Mofiur Rahman has been working in Ekushey Television for a long time. He has set a unique precedent by creating environmental reports for a long time. SM Mofiur Rahman has produced many popular reports on the harmful aspects of using polythene, creating public awareness to prevent river encroachment and pollution, and killing trees.

Ferdous Rahman works most of the time as an environmental journalist in ATN News. Over the years, he has regularly made headlines for creating awareness about river encroachment-pollution and the harmful effects of polythene use.

Aminul Islam Mithu is doing daily journalism in Bangladesh. Apart from doing research on snakes separately, he is also working on aquatic and wildlife. He founded a research organization called Bengal Discover.

Jannatul Ferdous Mohana is working as a reporter for Desh TV. He has been working as an environmental journalist for several years.

Bappi Sardar, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sabuj Andolan said, Every year we try to give Greenman Award to worthy and skilled people. Bangladesh of the future will be more prosperous and knowledge dependent if the work is recognized. However, due to the low budget for research in the state, the nation is becoming talentless day by day. Developed countries give more importance to research sector, which is opposite in our country. I appeal to the present government to make the budget of the Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate adequate.
