The embassy invited “expatriates in Lebanon to follow its official page to receive all important announcements regarding the resumption of work in the consular section.”
The Charge d’Affaires of the Syrian Embassy in Lebanon, Ali Daghman, said in a statement to the Lebanese newspaper “An-Nahar” that “the embassy continues its work despite the challenges,” stressing that it “has not closed its doors since the beginning of the crisis,” and “continues to provide basic services to citizens, such as extending passports.” Traveling and issuing transit cards for those wishing to return to Syria, in addition to registering them at a consulate according to the available documents.”
He said: “Unfortunately, the immigration and passport system in Syria has suffered great damage,” explaining that this damage affected the ability to issue new passports.
He added, “The embassy is trying to address some of the procedures that required direct prior approvals within its current capabilities.”
A Bahraini security delegation arrives in Damascus
A Bahraini delegation headed by the head of the Strategic Security Service, Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, arrived today, Saturday, at the People’s Palace in Damascus.
The delegation is scheduled to hold many political and security meetings with officials of the new authorities in Syria.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Syrian caretaker government, Asaad Al-Shaibani, previously received a phone call from his Bahraini counterpart, Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, last Wednesday.
8 people were killed in the city of Homs
Sources told Sputnik in Syria that 6 people, including a lawyer, were found killed in the Al-Sabeel neighborhood inside the city of Homs, shot by unknown gunmen.
According to the people of the area, the sources stated that “the lawyer was initially asked to leave his house in the neighborhood by unknown people, so that the latter began moving his home’s belongings, and during that, masked gunmen were seen on motorcycles, and they opened fire on the lawyer and the young men with him, which led to their deaths.” Immediately.”
The sources added, “Two other people were found dead on a farm in the vicinity of the city of Homs after being exposed to direct fire in the head and chest, and they were identified by their families.”
The sources continued, “The past few hours witnessed the entry of large military convoys belonging to the Military Operations Department, which announced the start of a security campaign in the city of Homs in search of wanted persons who refused to surrender their weapons.”
In this context, he appealed to the people of the city of Homs “to stop these security incidents that are recorded daily and to reveal the fate of dozens of young men who were kidnapped in their city and its countryside during the past two weeks.”
