It is known that during the tenure of the outgoing government, loan scams, extortion and looting in the banking sector took a terrible form. S Alam Group took over about 8 banks including Islami Bank. After taking over these banks, S Alam Group took thousands of crores of loans anonymously. Not only the loans, the influential group has opened companies in the name of private institutions to keep the ownership of these banks in their hands. S Alam Group failed to withdraw large amount of cash from Islami Bank after the sudden resignation of Sheikh Hasina government in the face of student movement. After that, the officials and employees took a stand against S Alam. In this, incidents of riots also happened in front of Islami Bank. At that time the officials did not allow the followers of S Alam group to enter the bank.

It is to be noted that after the fall of Sheikh Hasina government, the news of bank fund looting with the connivance of Islami Bank directors and some dishonest officials is being published in the media. The actual situation is even worse. Due to the continuation of this pattern of looting for a long time, it has become difficult to conduct the normal operations of the bank and there has been a crisis of public trust in the bank. In such a situation, the bank’s officers-employees have demanded the dissolution of the board of directors and reorganization. Besides, the general employees of the bank demanded the dismissal of all the officials who were followers of the S Alam group. In this regard, the new governor of Bangladesh Bank. Islami Bank staff wrote to Ahsan H Mansoor. As a result, eight top officials were dismissed.
