Kochi: Minister P Rajeev said that the fire in Brahmapuram has been brought under 80% control and the waste disposal will be back to normal by today. The minister informed about this after visiting Brahmapuram along with Local Government Minister MB Rajesh. P. Rajeev said that he cannot say the exact date when the fire will be completely extinguished. Garbage disposal in the city has been restored. 40 loads of garbage have been removed. By today, garbage disposal will be back to normal. The fire was six feet deep. The minister explained that the fire was extinguished by taking out the burnt garbage

Efforts are being made to extinguish the smoke in the Brahmapuram waste plant. For this, 30 fire engines are camping in Brahmapuram. Water is also being dropped from the air from helicopters. One of the longest operations in the history of the fire brigade is going on round the clock to put out the smoke from the Brahmapuram waste plant. About 200 fire rescue workers of fire units from Kannur to Thiruvananthapuram are in the final stages of extinguishing the smoke.
