A historic cemetery has been found under a house in Lima, the capital of Peru, a South American country. The cemetery was found beneath a house in the densely populated area of San Juan Luriganjo in Lima. Scientists say they hope to find the bodies of aristocrats and other valuables from the medieval Ririkancho community here. The cemetery is estimated to be at least 800 years old.
The house is owned by Hypolito Tika. Tika had decided to make some new constructions in the house. As a historic site, the city of Lima must undergo a mandatory archaeological survey prior to construction. The cemetery was demolished during the survey.
