The 800th anniversary of the first Nativity of Saint Francis of Assisi is set to be commemorated with a grand event in Italy, with around 1500 participants from all over the country. The event will take place on Saturday, December 16 at the Urom Mary Major Cathedral, and will reenact the birth of Christ in a living nativity scene.

Rolandus Magrikas, the Cathedral in charge of the Urom Mary Major Cathedral, expressed the significance of the event, stating that the reenactment of Christ’s birth has the power to touch hearts and renew faith. The event kicked off at 1:00 pm with the opening of an exhibition area featuring realistic depictions of the Nativity scene from various parts of Italy. This was followed by performances from historical and folk troupes at 2:00 pm. The Living Nativity Hut will also host programs at 3:00 pm, immersing the public in the Nativity scene. The event will conclude with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 6:00 pm and the blessing of the image of the unborn child Jesus.
