K-pop icon girl group ‘BLACKPINK’ created another memory with their fandom ‘Blink’ by accompanying them on their 8-year journey with unwavering support.
YG Entertainment, the agency of BLACKPINK as a whole, posted the ‘BLACKPINK – 8TH Anniversary ‘Our Area’ Recap Video’ on BLACKPINK’s official social media on the 6th.
It contains behind-the-scenes footage of the recent fan signing event held to celebrate the 8th anniversary of their debut and the pink carpet event to commemorate the release of the world tour film.
On the 8th, the 8th anniversary, the four members Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé could not hide their excitement as they appeared in front of fans as a full group for the first time in about 11 months. Before the fan signing event began, they showed off their playful side and recharged with pleasant energy, such as by making the number 8 with their hands.
BLACKPINK, who communicated more closely with their fans than ever amidst their strong bond, said, “We felt that a lot of time had passed with BLINKs and our hearts were touched,” and added, “We were happy that we could be together on such a meaningful day. We hope to meet again soon on a good opportunity.”
The next day, the live performance film ‘Blackpink World Tour’ [본 핑크] IN CINEMAS (BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK] BLACKPINK’s love for their fans also shone at the production conference for ‘THE BOYZ IN CINEMAS’. BLACKPINK debuted on August 8, 2016 with the single “SQUARE ONE,” which featured the double title tracks “Whistle” and “BOOMBAYAH.” In 2022, they topped both the Billboard 200 and Official Albums Chart Top 100 simultaneously with their second full-length album “Bone Pink,” becoming the world’s top girl group.
The only K-pop groups to have topped both charts at the same time are Blackpink and BTS. Also, BTS (27 songs) is the K-pop group with the most songs on Billboard’s main single chart, the Hot 100, followed by Blackpink with 9 songs.
The four members renewed their contracts with YG, which discovered them late last year, to continue group activities. However, they are pursuing individual activities separately under different agencies. Jennie, Jisoo, and Lisa have established independent labels OA Entertainment, Bliss, and Loud, respectively. Rosé is pursuing individual activities through The Black Label, established by Teddy, a former YG producer.
The four members will make a full group comeback and go on a world tour in 2025.
