Here in Spain, we have experienced many university camps and exhibitions almost every month.
Since the month of October, the words “genocide” and “Zionism” have become, unfortunately, everyday. The Zionist government of Israel did not stop the massacre against the Palestinian people. The numbers are staggering after ten months of bombings and attacks: 40,000 people have died and, of these, 16,500 are children. To give us an idea and not to use it to make or say numbers, that number is equivalent to 53 boys and girls killed every day since the month of October. A study published in July by the British medical journal “The Lancet” even suggested that the figures were exaggerated and that the real number of deaths in Gaza could exceed 186,000. The authors arrive at this staggering figure, using a conservative estimate that considers four indirect deaths for every recorded direct death, based on the number of indirect deaths produced by other wars throughout history.
Despite the barbarity, there is reason to be proud. The international response is clear: we refuse to justify genocide. In the Spanish State, demonstrations have reached 80,000 participants with a clear objective: solidarity with the Palestinian people and their resistance, and for the end of the arms trade with Israel.
