Tensions rose again in the Taiwan Strait, where 9 Chinese military aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait in patrol groups.
The announcement was made by Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense, stressing that the island’s Armed Forces have “monitored and responded to the situation with our means without an escalation” of the situation.
China declares that it does not recognize the middle line of the Taiwan Strait, considering the island part of a “one China” and destined for “reunification” with the People’s Republic of China.
For the Ministry of Defense in Taipei, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, according to a note, “endangered regional stability, caused tensions, brought a negative impact on security and economic development through this deliberate action. Therefore, we condemn this irrational act”.
The Chinese move is not surprising and comes after the trip to the United States by the president of Taiwan, Tsai Ing-wen.
