The mobile court of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) fined 1 lakh 71 thousand taka to 9 establishments including Square Hospital for finding Aedes mosquito larvae. This penalty was imposed by 7 mobile courts run by the Dengue Prevention and Aedes Mosquito Breeding Corporation.
On Thursday (July 4), these operations were conducted in Kamrangirchar, Panthpath, Narinda, Swamibagh, Karatia Road, Sarulia, Demra, Ranimahal, Nandipara M Block, Banasree, Khilgao areas of the corporation.
The Executive Magistrate of the Corporation, ATM Morshed Hospital Engineer said that mosquito larvae were found in the basement of the 4th floor of a building under construction for the Square Hospital located in Panthpath area of Ward No. 1 in Zone No. 1. Anwar Hossain was fined Tk 50,000. The under-construction building of Square Hospital is reportedly being constructed by Union Development and Technologies Limited. In addition, the Executive Magistrate of Zone-1 conducted raids at 44 more houses and establishments.
In Zone 3, Executive Magistrate Taib-ur-Rehman Ashiq raided 58 houses and 6 factories in Noorbagh area of Kamrangirchar, Ward No. 57. At that time, the court imposed a fine of Tk 1 lakh in 1 case because mosquito larvae were found in 6 containers in 1 factory manufacturing tea bags.
Executive Magistrate Mohammad Touhidul Islam in Region No. 4 conducted raids in 110 houses and establishments around Imamganj of Ward No. 30 and levied a fine of Tk 10,000 in 2 cases after finding larvae in 2 houses.
Executive Magistrate Amir Hamza in Zone No. 5 conducted raids in 85 houses and establishments in Narinda, Swami Bagh, Karatia Road area of Ward No. 05 and 40 and levied a fine of Tk 6,000 in 3 cases as larvae were found in 3 establishments.
Executive Magistrate in six regions. Masudur Rahman raided 48 houses and establishments in Nandipara M Block, Banshri, Khilgao area of Ward No. 74 and collected a fine of Tk 2,000 in 1 case after finding larvae in 1 house.
Pankaj Chandra Debnath, Executive Magistrate in Region Eight, conducted a raid in 46 houses and establishments in Sarulia, Demra, Ranimahal area of Ward No. 68 and found no larvae.
Executive Magistrate Sheikh Shamsul Arefin in Region No. 6 conducted raids on 60 houses and structures in Matuail, Sharifpara, Jatrabari areas of Ward No. 63 and collected a fine of Tk 3,000 in 1 case after finding larvae in 9 houses and structures.
Dhaka South City Corporation spokesperson Abu Nacher said that a total of 458 houses and establishments were visited in today’s operation. Meanwhile, a total of 1 lakh 71 thousand rupees fine has been collected in 9 cases due to mosquito larvae being found in 9 houses and buildings under construction.
