Nine people, including children, were killed and 34 injured in rocket fire from Lebanon on the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights, Israeli emergency services said, as quoted by AFP.

The strike hit a soccer field in the Druze village of Majdal Shams, said Eli Bin, director general of Magen David Adom, Israel’s equivalent of the Red Cross, adding that 17 of the 34 wounded were in critical condition, 10 of who are children.

The representative of the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah, Mohammed Afif, denied to Reuters that it was behind the attack.

The Israeli army said it was assisting with the evacuation of the injured.

An Israeli medic told Reuters the impact was devastating and caused a fire.

The attack comes after an Israeli strike on Lebanese territory that killed four fighters of Lebanese armed groups. Two Lebanese security sources told Reuters that the four fighters killed in the Israeli strike on Kfarqila belonged to different groups, but at least one of them was a member of Hezbollah.
