The action game GTA VI, continuing the path of one of the most successful and appreciated series in history, is not expected to reach stores during the next year at least, but somehow no less than 90 videos found their way to the network in which a development version of the game is allegedly shown. In some of the videos, the development tools used by Rockstar when creating the game are seen, while in other videos you can see actual stages, which reveal details about the plot and characters in the future game.
The videos were first published on the forum of fans of the series by an anonymous leaker, but in the last few hours they were also shared on Reddit and YouTube. There is no doubt that even if in the next few hours Rockstar’s lawyers will lead to the removal of the videos from most of the websites, the damage from the company’s point of view has already been done for the most part.
In some of the videos, a new character controlled by the actor is revealed for the first time, which according to reports is a female character named Lucia, in a scene where she robs a restaurant and even takes hostages. The location appears to be Vice City, a kind of imaginary version of Miami that first appeared in the 2002 game GTA: Vice City.
At this point it is unclear when exactly the videos were taken, and whether they represent a recent version of the game or whether GTA VI’s graphics engine has received significant improvements since then. In fact, the possibility that this is a particularly sophisticated hoax cannot be completely removed, although the amount of videos and the level of detail shown in them makes this possibility less likely.
In fact, matters from Rockstar’s point of view may get very complicated later, as the leaker who posted the videos on the forum states that he may later post additional materials, including the full source code of the game and various test versions.
The launch of GTA 6 is not expected to happen before 2024.
