New Delhi,

Odyssey dancer Guru Mayadar Rawat, the recipient of one of the country’s highest awards, the Padma Shri, has been evicted from his government residence in Delhi. The manner in which he was expelled has sparked debate.

Since the 1980s, national artists between the ages of 40-70 have been allocated rental accommodation on behalf of the government for a period of 3 years. They were continuously extended until 2014.

Subsequently, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs sent them a notice to vacate the flats by 2020.

Guru Mayadhar Rawat, a 90-year-old Odyssey dancer, was staying at the Asian Games Government House in Delhi.

Several artists, including Guru Mayadar, opposed the order and approached the court seeking an injunction against the state order, but the case was in favor of the state. Also, all artists have until April 25 to leave.

The artists are currently being expelled following that. Artists, including Guru Mayadar, were evicted from the flats where they were staying yesterday. All of their belongings were placed on the road.

In this case, the manner in which the senior artists were expelled has sparked debate.

Guru Mayadar’s daughter said, “I was exchanging food when the officers came to the house. I’m broken.

Is this how you treat my father, who created some of the greatest dancers in the country …?

He does not even own an inch of land. My father is not one to be thrown away like this.

Every citizen of this country deserves to be treated with basic dignity. ”
