The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. in the Impasse Ermengarde,near the rue de Roqueturière in the Aiguelongue district.The vehicle,carrying a retired couple,veered off the road and violently struck a concrete pillar. Emergency services,including firefighters from SDIS 34,responded to the scene. Both occupants were rescued and taken to the emergency room at Lapeyronie Hospital. Initially, their conditions were classified as light injuries, with both being conscious and in shock.
However, the 90-year-old passenger’s condition deteriorated rapidly. Medical examinations revealed severe internal injuries, and she passed away a few hours later at the hospital.
