Berlin – Alexander Schirp is confident. Despite the pandemic, the situation on the training market is better than many suspect, says the co-head of the regional business associations. “If we manage to fill the vacancies in the best possible way, there will be no Corona year in the dual training in 2021,” says Schirp.
Job optimism? In fact, the situation among young people is assessed very differently. In a survey by the Bertelsmann Foundation among young people, 71 percent of those surveyed stated that they were convinced that the chances of getting an apprenticeship position had worsened due to Corona. That is ten percent more than last year. In the case of young people with a low level of education, as many as 78 percent noticed a deterioration. Conclusion of the foundation: “Those who have the Abitur have a kind of guarantee to study. We leave young people with lower school qualifications alone in times of crisis. It’s not fair.”
