VALENCIA (EFE). 91.1% of homes in the city of Valencia have access to the internet and 74.8% of these users use electronic bankingwhile the landline continues to decline and only a little more than half, 54%, have it, according to 2023 data.

According to the data from the Survey on Equipment and Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Homes 2023 carried out by the INE and published by the Statistics Office of the Valencia City Council, There is a growing trend in the use of the internet and online shoppingas well as a considerable increase in the frequency of use and ownership of mobile devices in the city.

In household equipment, the survey shows that approximately 3 out of every 4 have some type of computer and 90.6% enjoy a broadband connection. Similarly, 87.5% have a mobile device, and the landline continues to decline, going from 81.5% of households with a landline in 2019 to 54.3% in 2023.

Electronic banking has become a service used by 74.8% of internet users in the last three months and 28.1% of internet users in the last year have filed tax returns online.

Despite this increase in Internet use, 37.1% of users have limited or no trust in this platform and 64% of users claim to have detected false or dubious information on the Internet. Of them, 59.4% have verified the veracity of the information.

Regarding those who compare the information offered on the web, in 93.3% of cases they verify the source of said information.

96.5% of people residing in Valencia use the Internet daily: 96.6% have used it for instant messaging, 88.5% for emails, 80.7% for telephoning or videoconferencing and 72. 9% to participate in social networks.

One in five Internet users has used it for services related to political and social participation, 46.5% have used online learning material and 34% for communications with educators or other students.

According to the survey, of the people who have purchased online in the last 3 months, 45.9% are men while 54.1% are women.

The distribution of purchases and types of products varies significantly by sex and clothing, shoes or accessories are the products most purchased by women, followed by restaurant and fast food deliveries and purchases of toys or child care items. .

Men distribute their purchases more, with clothing, shoes and accessories being the most frequent, food and drinks from stores or supermarkets in second place, and printed books, magazines or newspapers in physical format in third place.

As a novelty compared to previous reports, the percentage of people who have used the internet in the last 12 months according to identification use is 47.8% in the case of women and 62.6% in the case of men. men.

Regarding teleworking, 44.2% of employed people could do it, although only 17.4% have done so in Valencia and the majority of those who telework do so partially.

The Councilor for Innovation, Paula Llobethas announced that the City Council will intensify courses for the prevention of scams through the Internet and the good use of technologies through practical workshops, with techniques to stop any type of scam through new technologies such as the Internet or mobiles.

These workshops, of which thirty are planned to be organized, will be held at the headquarters of neighborhood associations, housewives and senior centers, and will be open to all citizens. They will address topics such as cybersecurity, digital identity, financial inclusion, basic concepts of economics and the daily use of mobile applications, websites and other specific media, both for regular browsing and for online shopping and digital banking.
