Social Security recipients already received their $914 payments today. This amount applies to taxpayers who file their taxes individually.

Taxpayers who make their declarations together with their partner and those considered essential persons will receive different amounts.

Supplemental Social Security Payments (also known as SSI) are a type of federal benefit in the United States for people with low incomes and disabilities.

These payments are designed to help cover basic expenses like food, shelter, and clothing.

In addition, people age 65 and older who have limited income and/or few financial resources can also receive SSI.

As it was mentioned already, individual filers will receive $914, while couples filing jointly will receive $1,371.

On the other hand, essential people – who are those who live with someone who receives Supplemental Security Income benefits, but needs the attention of a person who cares for them – will receive a monthly payment of $458 dollars, according to Social Security.

Remember that payments are delivered on the first day of each month, except when said day falls on a weekend or holiday.

In those cases, payments are sent the previous business day. That is, before the month begins.

This means that beneficiaries receive 12 payments per yearalthough some months they will receive two checks, due to the reason stated in the previous paragraph.

Supplemental Social Security payments were first sent out in 1974. Payments have been increasing to adjust for costs of living since 1975.
