the new cases of Covid in Italy (yesterday there were 17,193, here the bulletin). It goes up like this at least 17.467.642 the number of people who have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus (including recovered and died) since the outbreak began. THE deaths today I am 40 (yesterday 79), for a total of 166,875 victims from February 2020.
People recovered or discharged they are altogether 16.652.711 e 17.496 those that have become negative in the last 24 hours (yesterday 30,648). The positive current – the subjects who have the virus – turn out to be in everything 648.056equal to -7.844 compared to yesterday (-13.009 the day before).
The swabs and the scenario
I total swabs (molecular and antigenic) processed are 70.689, or 110,366 less than yesterday when it was 181,055. The 13.3% positive rate (the approximation of 13.33%); yesterday it was 9.5%.
Beyond the fluctuating trend of the curve which always tends downwards before the weekend (to then touch the minimum point with the data for Monday), the trend keeps going down. It must be said that the number of tests today is low (and therefore the rate rises) due to the fact that yesterday was a holidaymoreover, in the data of the new total infections were added those of Emilia-Romagna yesterday (about half of 2,500), included only today in the bulletin due to an IT problem, as indicated in the note *.
The improvements can also be seen from the drop in parameters of the weekly ISS monitoring: the incidence is reduced to 207 per 100 thousand inhabitants (it was 261 in the report of the previous week) and the Rt index calculated on the symptomatics stands at 0.82 (it was 0.86). Even the intensive care occupancy rate is 2.3% (it was 2.6% as of May 26).
There are two regions with a four-digit increase: Emilia-Romagna which reports +2.554 cases but also counting those of yesterday * and Lazio which communicates +1.055 cases.
The health system
The beds occupied in ordinary Covid wards I am +55 (yesterday -289), for a total of 4,644 hospitalized. The beds occupied in intensive therapy I am -1 (yesterday +3) – this is the balance between people who entered and left in a day – for a total of 225 seriously ill, with 9 entrances to resuscitation (yesterday 27).
