95,000 euros in donations: warm windfall from the Fürther Sparkasse

– Every year, Sparkasse Fürth pours out its cornucopia and generously supports non-profit associations and organizations in its business area with donations and sponsorship. Now there was another 95,000 euros on top.

According to the municipal credit institution, the aim is to support people in the region in a wide variety of areas of life – be it sport, culture, social commitment, education, science or the environment.

Around 550,000 euros have already flowed into the city and district of Fürth over the course of 2023. In addition, towards the end of the year, the mayors of the district municipalities – this year representing 240 funded institutions in their area of ​​responsibility – are traditionally invited to the Sparkasse headquarters on Fürth’s Maxstrasse, where they can receive donation checks: an impressive 95,460 euros were raised at a small ceremony these days distributed.

Although his official farewell as head of the Sparkasse is only a few weeks away, Hans Wölfel used the prominent circle to address personal words to those present in his last meeting of this kind. The annual fundraising event “always had a very special meaning” for him, said Wölfel: “I was always impressed by how many people in our region are committed to others and the local community.” This “makes an important contribution to the high quality of life and good cohesion in our homeland”.

“A powerful savings bank”

At the end of the year, Wölfel continued, he would be able to hand over “a high-performance savings bank that is always a reliable partner for all customers in the region, especially in challenging times.” This is thanks to a “stable market position, the special trust of the people in the region and the high level of commitment of our employees”.

Of course, the donation tradition will be continued by his designated successor at the top, Adolf Dodenhöft: In 2024, many clubs, institutions and projects can also look forward to donations from Sparkasse Fürth. Because the savings bank, according to the long-time boss, “does not only operate in the region – it also gives a good part of what it earns back to the region.”
