Today (Sunday) towards noon, the police received a report of damage to a synagogue in the Ramat Motza neighborhood on the outskirts of Jerusalem, and Harel police officers were called to the scene.

When the police entered the synagogue, they noticed that the suspect smashed windows and caused a lot of destruction in the place. The suspect, a resident of the neighborhood in his 40s, was arrested by the police and taken to the Harel station in the Jerusalem district for questioning.

The investigation of the case shows that already yesterday (Saturday) an argument arose between him and the worshipers about a desire to change the seats in the synagogue and the windows. After they did not settle the dispute, the suspect arrived this morning and first uprooted the seats and then, using the leg of one of the chairs, damaged the windows. According to him, now the seats and windows of the synagogue will be replaced as he suggested during Shabbat.

At the end of his investigation, the suspect was sent under restrictive conditions to full house arrest and removed from the synagogue where the incident happened.

The police point out that this is a serious violent incident for all intents and purposes, during which, according to the suspicion, the suspect chose to instill fear among worshipers and the management of the place and caused a lot of damage in the synagogue. We will continue to act and investigate the case to the end in order to exhaust the law.
