The largest menukah in the world: Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, lit the first candle in the world’s largest manukah this evening together with the mayor of New York, Eric Adams, on Fifth Avenue. In order to light the menukah that rose to a great height, the ambassador had to climb a crane that brought him to the menukah nests and light the candles

“The Jews and African Americans stood by each other in the face of oppression, hatred and racism”

Ambassador Erdan said at the event: “Our enemies tried to erase our Jewish identity, but we refused to surrender. Thanks to faith and determination, the few defeated the many. Since then, every year we light the Hanukkah candles near windows and in public places to publicize the miracle and show that we are proud to be Jews and that we are not Afraid. But today, when anti-Semitism is on the rise, we are once again fighting for Jewish culture and religion, but this time we are not doing it alone.”

“I want to thank you my friend, the mayor, Eric Adams,” said Erdan, “on behalf of the State of Israel and the Jewish people for standing by us. In the most difficult times our communities – the Jews and African Americans stood by each other in the face of oppression, hatred and racism. Now we must renew and strengthen Our covenant, when we are together, evil cannot prevail. As the Rebbe taught us: even a little of the light repels the darkness.”
