Tehran: A leading Iranian actress has been arrested for supporting the anti-hijab protest that is raging in the country following the death of Mahsa Amini. Tarane Alidoshi, who is famous for her Oscar-winning film ‘The Salesman’, was arrested.

He was arrested on charges of spreading false information and declaring solidarity with the anti-government protests that rocked the country. The action was taken following a post Alidoshi shared on Instagram last week in support of the anti-government agitation. The government was angered by the actress’s stand against the execution of the protestors. Then the actress’s Instagram account, which has a following of 80 lakh people, was deleted.

They had lashed out at some international organizations for keeping silent on the government’s execution of Mohsan Shakiri as an insult to humanity. In November, the actress shared a picture of herself without a headscarf on social media to support the movement. It has been three months since the protest started after 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who was arrested by the police for not wearing the headscarf properly, was killed in custody. The government considers the anti-government protest as a war against God and commits severe human rights violations against the protestors.
