Britney Spears’ father breaks his silence: “Without my vigils Britney would not be alive”

Singer Britney Spears was under her father’s custody for 13 years and only recently, after a high-profile legal battle, was she released. Now, her father breaks his silence and responds to the issue for the first time. 70-year-old Jamie Spears explains that without his intervention, Britney would not be alive. “I understand that not everyone will agree with me, but this is my side of the story,” he said.
“It was a long and very difficult period. I love Britney with all my heart, but has anyone stopped to ask where she would be today without custody? I don’t know if she was alive. This custody was an excellent tool to protect her and the children. I think that without it, she would not have received the children back,’ he added.
As you may remember, in 2008 Britney’s father together with her second husband and the father of her children decided, with the consent of the court, that the star would receive joint possession but she would not be allowed to stay alone with them. “The main goal was to give Brittany the opportunity to have a close and good relationship with her children. All decisions were made jointly with Kevin,’ explained Spears.
During custody, Brittany’s father controlled every aspect of her life, including her financial, social, and emotional situation. But now he wants to explain that he is the one who rehabilitated Brittany financially and mentally. “She was impoverished, she had no money. The custody built sources thanks to which it was able to stand on its feet again,’ he said.
Finally, he concluded by saying that no one really knows what the truth is. ‘Most people just have no idea. Her lawyer has no idea either. The media doesn’t know the truth, only Britney’s accusations. I don’t mind receiving attacks, because I just know they are wrong.’
