“Deri’s law” is delayed: the discussion in the special committee on the bill intended to make the term of Aryeh Deri kosher ended today (Monday) in a widespread storm, after the chairman of the committee Shlomo Karai inserted into the law at the last minute a clause saying that the law will enter into force immediately – and not with publication The records are as usual. Following the move, the members of the opposition stopped the discussion on the allegation of a hijacker, and left with the allegation of “guzzling”.

The new section of the law is intended not only to shorten the timetables on the way to swearing in a government that will also include Deri Kosher, but also as a response to the planned move by Justice Minister Gideon Sa’ar – who, according to the reports published this morning, planned to delay the publication of the law in the records, so that Deri will not be able to participate in the expected swearing in of the government as well If the law is approved before then.

The committee’s ombudsman, attorney Dr. Gore Blay, explained the change in the wording: “The meaning of the amendment is that they will not wait the ten days that are usually given for publication in the records. During the Corona period, sometimes the publication in the records was within a few hours and here there is a shortening of the period. We prefer to wait, but there have already been such precedents. There was an amendment to the basic government law that dealt with the delegation of authority between a minister and a deputy minister that was done this way, but this is not the king’s way.”

According to him, “Due to the clarity and towards the public, the king’s way is to wait for publication in the records, but mainly in the laws directed towards citizens and directing their behavior, but this is not the case. The conclusion made according to the opinion of the Knesset ombudsman is that tomorrow the reservations will be presented, including the reasoning and a vote on them. Regarding the claim of a new subject – the regulations state that the committee will not end the discussion of the proposed amendment without a decision on the claim of the new subject, but the discussion can still be completed only without a vote.”

MK Yulia Malinovski (Yisrael Beitenu) then claimed that as soon as a new issue claim was asserted, the discussion should be stopped for the time being until the meeting of the regulatory committee and its decision on the issue. In the end, the discussion was closed and the committee will reconvene tomorrow morning.
