Kochi: 5G in Kerala from tomorrow. 5G services will be launched in Kochi city for the first time. Services are provided by Reliance Jio. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the service.
It is reported that Jio has upgraded more than 130 towers in Kochi. It has been available on trial basis for the past few days in many places in the city. In areas like Kadavantra, Ernakulam South and Angamaly, there are reports that Airtel and Jio have started showing 5G signal to some people.
The Central Government released the list of 50 cities in the country where 5G service is available. Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities across 14 states and Union Territories will see 5G for the first time. Kochi in Kerala was on the list.
The first 5G service was launched in the country on October 1 last. In the first phase, the service was made available in eight major cities. Later, 5G services were extended to more cities by the end of November.
