Images of the adoption of the historic agreement on biodiversity

The agreement is unprecedented. The 15^e conference of the parties on biodiversity ended on Monday, December 19 in Montreal, Canada, with the signing of a historic agreement signed by more than 190 countries. The agreement, says of « Kunming-Montréal » aims to halt the destruction of biodiversity and its resources.

The countries have agreed to create protected areas on 30% of the planet by 2030 and to increase the annual aid for biodiversity in developing countries to 30 billion dollars. To date, 17% of the land and 8% of the seas are protected. “After four years of work, we have come to the end of our journey”said Huang Runqiu, President of COP15 and Chinese Minister of the Environment.
