The Athletics Association celebrated the end of the 2021/22 season last night at the traditional gala evening. After a season full of historic achievements, the union chose the outstanding of the year and gave them awards and scholarships.
The European runner-up in the marathon and Shi’an Israel, Maru Tefri (Maccabi Tel Aviv), is the athlete of the year. The bronze medal winner in the marathon of the World Championships and the 10,000 meters run in the European Championships, Luna Chemtai-Salpeter (Maccabi Tel Aviv) is the athlete of the year.
The young athlete of the year is none other than the world youth champion in the 200 meter run, Blessing Afrifa (Maccabi Tel Aviv). The young female athlete of the year is Linoi Levy (Maccabi Rishon Lezion). The coach of the year is Dan Salpeter. *The discovery of the year is also the winner of the bronze medal in the marathon of the European Championships, Geshao Ayala (Maccabi Tel Aviv).
Shields of honor were also awarded yesterday to Blessing Afripa and coach Yossef Jizo by the European Athletics Federation. The Athletics Association would like to thank all its partners for this past season full of international achievements and wishes for many more fruitful years just like the one that ended.
