Apple is said to be dropping plans for a high-end Mac Pro with an M2 “Extreme” processor due to concerns about cost and complexity.
Rumors and reports have been circulating for some time regarding upcoming computing products from Apple. While we received a report about it, we also have an update for the upcoming Mac Pro, which will now see a delay thanks to a change in its processor.
Early reports about the Mac Pro sporting a processor, and there have also been reports of an M2 “Extreme” model. Now two months later, things have changed, and Apple seems to be going in a different direction. Bloomberg reports that there are a number of reasons for the delay, with a variety of different reasons holding back production of the Mac Pro.
She points out that Apple has abandoned the idea of an “Extreme” version, mainly because of how complex it is to create the version and how expensive it is to produce. Another factor is that Apple is wondering how much consumers will pay for the upcoming Mac Pro model. If it were to arrive and cost north of $10,000, it would be for a very select group of buyers, frankly, the Mac Pro has always been.
As for the production of the upcoming Pro model, Apple is likely to produce the high-end desktop in Vietnam.
