Woman doctor arrested for demanding bribe for removal of uterus Maya Raj, a junior consultant in the gynecology department of the Thodupuzha Karikode district hospital, was arrested. They demanded a bribe of 5000 rupees to provide further treatment to the woman who is the wife of a resident of Yhangthala Ngarhuthedu who had her uterus removed.
The young woman first sought treatment at Dr. Maya’s house. 500 rupees was taken from them as a fee for the surgery that day. Then on the 19th, the uterus was removed by surgery at the district hospital. The doctor asked to pay Rs 5000 for further treatment.
With this, the complainant approached the vigilance. The complainant brought Rs 3500 to the doctor’s house. The doctor is caught while taking money. They will be produced in the Muvatupuzha Vigilance Court on Friday. The doctor was arrested by a team comprising DySP Shaju Jose, CIs Dipson Thomas, Mahesh Pillai and KR Kiran.
