The Paris Police Prefecture announced, Friday, December 23 at midday, that an intervention was underway rue d’Enghien, in the 10e capital district. Shots were fired, at least two people were killed and four injured, two of whom are in absolute emergency, announced the Paris prosecutor’s office.
“An investigation has been opened into the counts of murder, intentional homicide and aggravated violence” et “the investigations have for the time being entrusted to the 2e judicial police district », said the prosecution. A suspect, “a man aged between 60 and 70, was arrested and placed in police custody”he added.
“The danger is averted, [l]es motivations [de la personne interpellée] are currently unknown.added a police source.
The facts took place at a Kurdish cultural center on rue d’Enghien. A shopkeeper from a neighboring building, wishing to remain anonymous, heard “seven to eight shots in the street”. “It’s total panic, we stayed locked up”did she say.

According to Emmanuel Boujenan, a local resident, “there were people in a panic shouting at the police: ‘He’s here, he’s here, come on!’ by designating a hairdressing salon”.
At the intersection of rue d’Enghien and rue d’Hauteville, stretchers were brought to the scene of the shooting and a security perimeter was set up by the police.
