The Tel Aviv District Attorney’s Office today (Friday) submitted to the city’s district court an indictment against Ali Hamed, a 31-year-old resident of the Palestinian Authority, after he carried out a run-over attack in Tel Aviv two weeks ago when he hit a motorcyclist and moderately injured him. The filing of the indictment comes after the Shin Bet and the police finished investigating the incident, and classified it as a nationalist attack.

The indictment submitted by the lawyer Amit Schloss-Lizerowitz states that Hamed “decided to commit an act of terrorism and harm Jews as revenge for the death of his cousin who was shot by an IDF force, after he was involved in shooting at an outpost. To that end, on December 8, he entered Israel in his car, without having a residence permit or driver’s license. When he arrived at Abarbanal Street in Tel Aviv, he noticed the complainant standing on the sidewalk near the scooter, and decided to murder him out of a nationalist-ideological motive but because he was Jewish.”

“At this point he accelerated his travel speed, got on the sidewalk with his vehicle and collided with the complainant forcefully” the indictment stated. “As a result of the impact, the complainant was thrown into the air and thrown to the ground, and Hamed continued his journey while dragging the scooter and hitting other vehicles, until he stopped when he collided with a pole. As a result of Hamed’s actions, the complainant suffered many injuries, and he was rushed to the Ichilov Hospital in order to receive medical treatment.”

The indictment attributes to Hamed the commission of a terrorist act of attempted murder, serious injury under aggravating circumstances, entering or staying in Israel in violation of the law and driving without a driver’s license. At the same time, the lawyer Schlos-Lazerovitz submitted a request to extend his detention.
