It is a profile that questions. The suspect arrested this Friday morning in Paris after an attack near a Kurdish cultural center, which left several dead, is not unknown to the police. Already arrested a year ago for attacking migrants, he was, according to our information, released from prison on December 12.

He had been arrested for attempted murder and aggravated violence after attacking a migrant camp with a saber in December 2021. He had been arrested on the spot by the police, while one of two victims had been seriously injured. The aggressor had “begun to slash tents and would have followed a fight with exiles”, described an official of the association Utopia56.

According to a police source, the suspect told the police during his arrest that he “did not like Kurds”. He also made incoherent remarks, according to the same source. “The murderer, himself (injured and) in relative emergency, was taken to the hospital,” said the mayor of the 10th arrondissement, Alexandra Cordebard, on Friday.

Released from prison on December 12, 2022

The suspect, of French nationality, former train driver, had already been arrested in February 2016 for attempted murder of a vulnerable person. In October 2019, he was arrested for possession of weapons.

“The search for antecedents continues”, indicated the public prosecutor of Paris, Laure Beccuau. A police source, however, explained that he was unknown to the files of territorial intelligence and the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI).

According to our information, the suspect had been placed under judicial control since his release from the Santé prison, in Paris, on December 12, 2022. He did not have the right to leave the territory, but above all had no not allowed to own and carry a weapon.
