Long led and abused, Boulogne-Levallois managed to win at home 92-87 against Cholet thanks in particular to a still decisive Victor Wembanyama, Friday evening in the match at the top of the 14th day of the French Elite Basketball Championship.
With this eleventh victory of the season, Vincent Collet’s men consolidate their second place ahead of their opponent of the day – whose 4th defeat this season.
For its part, Dijon (10 wins, 4 losses) consolidated its fourth place – tied with Cholet – by dominating at home Bourg-en-Bresse (90-83) which remains fifth (9 v., 5 d.). Bourg-en-Bresse remained on six victories in a row in the league.
In Levallois, Victor Wembanyama and his teammates suffered to win, but achieved a breathtaking final after being trailing by 21 points! To finally win the last quarter 33-15 after losing the second (12-28) and third (19-25) but turned in the lead after the first (28-19).
Still excellent and decisive at the end of the match on Friday, Wembanyama was the best scorer of the game (24 pts) ahead of his teammate Tremont Waters (22). Justin Patton was the top scorer on the Cholet side with 18 points.
Le Mans also made one of the good deals of the day by winning at Nanterre (85-74). Le Mans thus clings to eighth place, the last qualifier for the play-offs. Nanterre is 10th. At the bottom of the standings the bargain is for Strasbourg (11th) who won at Blois (15th).
