RIYADH: Severe waterlogging has occurred in Makkah due to waterlogging following heavy rains. Damages were reported in various parts of Saudi Arabia following heavy rains on Friday.
No deaths or injuries have been reported so far due to the damage caused by the heavy rains. Following the heavy rains, the scenes of water entering the buildings in Makkah and vehicles being washed away are circulating on social media.
The Crisis and Disaster Management Center in Makkah region has warned residents not to leave their homes except for essentials. To ensure safety, the authorities have also instructed people not to go to the areas where rainwater has accumulated. The General Directorate of Civil Defense has formed committees in the country to assess the impacts. The directorate said that the committees will start accepting applications for compensation from those affected by the torrential rains and floods in Makkah.
