New Delhi: Investors have lost Rs 8.4 lakh crore in a single day due to the sharp fall in the Indian stock markets.

Due to the fall in the international stock markets, the Indian stock markets also suffered a 4 consecutive day decline in the last week. In particular, the Mumbai stock market index Sensex fell by 981 points (1.61%) to 59,845 on Friday alone. Similarly, the national stock market index Nifty fell 320 points (1.77%) to settle at 17,807. Due to this decline, investors lost Rs 8.42 lakh crore in a single day.

According to Kotak Securities Vice President (Technical Research) Amol Atwale, “There is a decline in the stock markets due to the rapid spread of the corona virus in countries including China and Japan.

3rd quarter GDP in US was more than expected. However, there is a fear among investors that the country’s central bank will raise interest rates due to rising inflation. This is also the reason for the decline in the stock market,” he said. Investors have collectively lost Rs 15 lakh crore in the last 4 trading days.
