Team India now has a four-Test series against Australia at home in February-March ahead of the World Championship.

Dhaka: Team India retained the second position in the ICC World Test Championship points table after sweeping the two-Test series against Bangladesh. A series win was essential for India to keep their hopes alive for the finals. According to the updated list after the Bangladesh-India second Test, Australia is at the top. In 13 matches, the Aussies have earned 120 points and an average of 76.92 points (PCT-Points percentage system). India are second with 87 points from 14 games at an average of 58.93. South Africa is third.
Team India is now ahead of the World Championship with a series of four Tests against Australia in the months of February-March. The first Test will begin on February 9 in Nagpur. The second Test will be played in Delhi from February 17-21, the third Test in Dharamsala from March 1-5 and the fourth Test in Ahmedabad from March 9-13. India can qualify for the final of the World Test Championship if they win the series against Australia 3-1. If the series against Bangladesh had not been swept 2-0, India would have won 4-0 against the strong Australia.
India won the first Test against Bangladesh by 188 runs in Chittagong and won the second match in Dhaka by three wickets. India set a target of 145 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 47 overs. India went into bat today on the fourth day in search of a target of 100 runs to win, but the fight of Ashwin and Iyer led to a thriller victory. Score: Bangladesh- 227 & 231, India- 314 & 145/7. Ashwin remained unbeaten on 42* off 62 balls and Iyer on 29* off 46 balls. Both added 71* not out for the eighth wicket. Ashwin was selected as the player of the second Test and Pujara of the series.
