by time news

The emotion remains strong, three days after the attack in the heart of Paris. At the call of the Kurdish Democratic Council in France (CDKF), a march started this Monday at noon in tribute to the victims of the massacre in the rue d’Enghien which took place on Friday. This march, which left around 12:30 p.m. from the scene of the attack, must reach rue La Fayette, where the bodies of three PKK militants were found, almost ten years ago to the day.

Several hundred people gathered and small altars were erected on the sidewalk where the three victims were shot, on which were placed their photographs, along with candles and bouquets of flowers. The demonstrators chanted in Kurdish “Our martyrs do not die” and in French “Women, life, freedom”, and demanded “truth and justice”.

A “deep sense of insecurity”

“A deep feeling of insecurity remains at the highest level, within the Kurdish community”, insisted on Twitter Agit Polat, spokesperson for the Kurdish Democratic Council in France, who calls for an intervention by the President of the Republic in order to to obtain “guarantees”.

Since the attack, the gatherings have multiplied. Shortly after the killing on Friday, hundreds of people gathered in the 10th arrondissement of Paris to make their voices heard. In the wake of the arrival of the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin, clashes had broken out between certain individuals and the police.

Representatives of the Kurdish community had called for a new tribute on Saturday on the Place de la République. At the end of the procession, violent overflows had broken out on the sidelines of the rally, on the Boulevard du Temple. Police then used tear gas, while vehicles and street furniture were set on fire.
