Bahrain’s first U-turn flyover has been opened to traffic. The U-turn flyover, built as part of the ongoing Al Fatih Highway Development Project, was inaugurated by the Minister of Public Works, Ibrahim bin Hassan Al Hawaj.

The U-turn flyover is intended for those entering Al Fatih Highway from Juffair via Prince Saud Al Faisal Road and heading south to Minas Salman. Apart from this, it will also benefit those going towards Sheikh Duaij Road in the west.

The left turn lane from Prince Saud Al Faisal Road to Al Fatih Highway will also be closed. This is ahead of the permanent closure of the traffic signal here.

When the project is completed, the number of vehicles traveling on Al Fatih Highway will increase to 140,000 from the current 87,000. The construction of the left turn flyover for those going to Jufair via Prince Saud Al Faisal Highway from Manama side is in progress.

It is targeted to be opened for traffic in the first quarter of next year. The construction of a three-lane underpass in both directions is also in progress at Gulf Hotel Junction.
