“Happy We Year” on Netflix: Kev Adams and Camille Lellouche reunited for a funny one-on-one

by time news

The film was to be called “Stuck”, like “stuck”; it is finally called “Happy us year”. The summary of this comedy, online on Netflix from this Wednesday, December 28, is very simple. Gaël and Hannah don’t know each other, but they go to a New Year’s Eve in the same building. But here it is: hardly has the elevator started that it finds itself blocked. And when the two unfortunate occupants manage to reach a technician, he tells them that the repair cannot take place until the next morning. To fill the time, Gaël and Hannah will tell each other their lives and discover some common points…

An entire movie in an elevator? Even if “Happy us year” only lasts 59 minutes, we feared the worst. Fortunately, the director Frank Bellocq, who has already signed “Love Addict” or “Each one for all”, allows his characters to regularly escape from their cabin. When Gaël and Hannah talk about their memories, the viewer finds himself propelled into other settings: a beach in Cap Ferret, a nightclub, the apartment of a young couple or even a path in a forest. Above all, the two actors, Kev Adams and Camille Lellouche, deliver frankly successful numbers.

A comedy show with two heads

She plays an angry and brittle girl, who does not hesitate to humiliate her colleagues or to hit the boyfriend who cheated on her. He plays a sympathetic loser, humiliated by his cousins in childhood, then despised by his girlfriend because he spends his days hanging out on his sofa playing video games with a friend.

The comic slaughter of the two actors amuses much more than the slightly artificial twists of the scenario (during their “captivity”, Hannah and Gaël nearly lose their lives on several occasions or overhear the very delicate conversations of neighbors…). “Happy We Year” ultimately looks like a two-headed comedy show, which then turns into a sweet but charming romantic comedy. This elevator trip won’t take you to seventh heaven, but it’s worth the trip.
