Chelsea went into the World Cup break in bad shape, with two straight league losses, a limp in the Champions League, relegation from the League Cup and one injured Reece James. Tonight (Tuesday), the Blues managed to end the series of losses thanks to 0:2 against Bournemouth, but the right defender was injured once again and came off the field in tears.
The first half was all blue. The Blues swept the field and pressed for Mark Travers’ goal, which paid off with goals from Kai Hubertz from the five-yard box in the 16th minute and Mason Mount with a superb kick from outside the box in the 24th minute. The home team managed to score the third, but referee Simon Hooper decided to disallow Christian Pulisic’s goal for a different claim.
The second half was more relaxed. The visitor took control of the tempo and tried to reduce the score, but the blue defense led by Cafe Arisblaga was there every time to prevent the visitor from getting into dangerous situations. The concern came from James, who played his first game in three months and it is currently unclear when he will return to the squad.
