Kabul: After the Taliban regime banned higher education for women in Afghanistan, it is reported that 35 private universities in the country may be closed at any moment. Universities have been hit hard by the financial crisis. Women-only educational institutions are the most vulnerable.
Owners have threatened to close down many educational institutions in the country if the ban on university education for women is not reversed. Meanwhile, some are hoping that the ban on university education for women will be lifted soon.
International organizations including the UN have severely criticized the Taliban’s actions. Boys and teachers of Afghan universities are organizing protests in support of women. A few teachers resigned in protest.
