Ironi Nahariya won the title of holder of the state cup in the national league this evening (Thursday) after an 82:87 victory over Elizur Ashkelon. Isiah Eisendorf was chosen as the outstanding player with 24 points against the team from the south, to whom this is the second loss in a row in the state cup finals.
In the game itself, the two taller players of both teams started well and Dakray Tucker with two triples made it 8:10 for the Southerners. Thomas Gipson, Dekrai Tucker and Gib David buried three three-pointers in a row, on the other hand, Dominez Burnett buried a three-pointer and with a good defense of the purples, the first quarter ended at 24:24. Both teams struggled to produce points at the beginning of the second quarter and the board showed 29:29. A 1:12 run by the southerners gave them a 30:41 advantage. Thanks to good defensive minutes by the northerners, and points by Romelo White (17 in the half), the first half ended only 40:45 for Avi Sugar’s team.
The purple momentum continued at the start of the third quarter and the turnaround was completed 49:47 for the northern team at the start of the first half. Gilinski and Eisendorf exchanged 3-pointers and the scoreboard showed 59:56 for Ironi Nahariya, 4 minutes into the decisive quarter. Isaiah Eisendorf’s great minutes established a record advantage at the end of the third quarter – 58:66. At the start of the last quarter, Romelo White provided a basket and a foul, and after a technical foul against Abi Sugar, the gap rose to double digits. Omar Ben David scored 5 consecutive points, when immediately after Thomas Gipson received a fifth foul and his coach, Avi Sukar, after it. 4 minutes to the end the board showed 76:70 for Ironi Nahariya. The gap of the northerners was preserved and with the penetration of Dominez Burnett and a last three by Tucker, the final result of the cup was sealed, 82:87 for Ironi Nahariya at the end.
