Intervention in Shukkoor murder case: Lawyer repeats allegation – Shukkoor Murder

by time news

Kannur/Malappuram ∙ Advocate TP Harindran of Kannur has said that he stands by the allegations leveled against Muslim League leader PK Kunjalikutty in connection with the case of killing of Youth League activist Ariil Shukur by CPM workers. At the same time, the then Kannur DySP P. Sukumaran, who was investigating the case, said that the allegation was false and he had not sought anyone’s legal advice. Muslim League National General Secretary PK Kunjalikutty Malappuram said that there is a conspiracy behind the allegation and legal action will be taken against it.

Harindran’s allegation was that it was due to Kunhalikutty’s intervention that the charges of murder and conspiracy were dropped against P. Jayarajan in the Shukur murder case and only the weak charge was charged. Harindran had also said that DySP P. Sukumaran had told him that Kunhalikutty SP had been asked to impose a weaker section. Harindran says that the police unofficially sought his legal advice in the case.

However, DySP Sukumaran stated that Kunhalikutty did not intervene at any stage of the investigation and Harindran’s opinion was not sought. He said that since the investigation has been completed and the CBI has filed the charge sheet, it is not right to discuss further.

However, Harindran responded yesterday saying that retired officer Sukumaran can now say the same and who doesn’t want to live in peace. Harindran said that he has expressed his moral indignation at the give and take of the parties and that he stands firm on it and thinks that his involvement in the Kunhalikutty case was part of the compromise politics with the CPM. He said that he did not regret the language used against Kunhalikutty.

Kunhalikutty also stated that the Muslim League leadership was convinced that there was a conspiracy behind Harindran’s disclosure and that those who were behind it would not be let off the hook. EP His position on the Jayarajan issue became a big debate. It’s politics. No problem with that. But Shukur is the sentiment of the Muslim League workers. It will go to extreme lengths against the accusers. The case will be dealt with legally.

CPM Kannur District Secretary M. V. Jayarajan said that Harindran’s involvement in filing false cases against CPM leaders has now been self-disclosed.

League with fury

The controversy regarding the Shukur murder case will be discussed in the UDF meeting today. KPCC President K. Sudhakaran’s reaction to TP Harindran’s allegation on Wednesday created confusion in the UDF. ‘He said it was a serious matter. If what was said is serious, it should be discussed. Sudhakaran had said that he can ask Harindran about it. However, this response angered the league. The League leadership had indicated that the matter would be raised in the UDF meeting. Meanwhile, Kunhalikutty responded yesterday that KPCC president should not be dragged into this and what he said was misinterpreted.

Earlier, the League had come against Sudhakaran for his statement in connection with RSS.
