L’Clinical Hospital of Barcelona is the best Catalan center in the Hospital Excellence Index 2022 for the seventh consecutive year, with a rating of 0.987, reports the Coordinating Institute of Governance and Applied Economics in a statement this Wednesday.

The other four most highly rated are also from Barcelona: the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital (0.976), the Quirónsalud Barcelona Hospital (0.968), the Santa Creu i Sant Pau Hospital (0.935) and the Teknon Medical Center (0.922).

They were already the best Catalan centers in the last edition and the only change this year is that the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau takes fourth place from the Teknon Medical Center.

This index (IEH) annually analyzes the public and private Spanish hospital centers that are most committed to the quality and sustainability of a universal health system, based on 2,100 surveys of health professionals from different hospitals in Spain.

All over Spain

The ranking across Spain is once again led this year by the Jiménez Díaz Foundation (0.996), from Madrid, which is also the community with the most centers among the 10 best located. The second in the ranking for the whole of Spain is the Hospital Universitari La Paz, also from Madrid (0.993) and the third is the Clínic (0.987), which thus gains a position in this state index.

The fourth and fifth place goes to two more Madrid centers: the Gregorio Marañón University Hospital (0.985) and the San Carlos Hospital Clínic (0.983); the sixth is Barcelona’s Vall d’Hebron (0.976); Madrid’s Hospital Ruber Internacional is seventh (0.972) and Quirónsalud Hospital Barcelona (0.968) is eighth.

Jesus Sanchez Lambas

The executive vice-president of the Coordenades Institute, Jesús Sánchez Lambás, has said that Spanish hospitals continue to demonstrate “a high capacity for resistance and a remarkable level of strength” despite the difficulties of public health.

He added that the top 10 of the IEH reflects the effort of these centers to improve their excellence and “maintain the high standards of hospital qualification, well above the European average”. And he attributed that the Jiménez Díaz Foundation continues to be the best hospital for its results in key parameters, such as the time patients wait to receive care, the high recommendation rates among people and the maintenance of the positive balance in the data entries and exits by free choice, “factors that support his leadership during these seven years”.
