ABU DHABI: The municipality announced that it will tighten the inspection of the residences of renters in Abu Dhabi from January. The authorities mainly check whether the residents are staying in various buildings etc. on rent in compliance with the rules.

It’s also common here to have multiple families living in a single-family flat, or to have multiple people living in a single-family home with minor renovations. All such situations are considered by the authorities to be violations of the law in any way. Similarly, bachelors staying in family accommodation is also considered punishable. It can be fined between Dh50,000 and Dh1 lakh.

A heavy fine will be levied for living in such buildings. It has been mentioned in the notification of the municipality that it can get a fine of up to 10 lakh dirhams. Similarly, others living in residences named after natives, etc., will face legal problems.

Vigorous testing is coming from January 1. The municipality has also stated that it is moving towards such an action keeping in mind the safety of the residents. The municipality has also stated that the buildings cannot support so many residents, meanwhile, various types of risks and safety issues are being considered.
