The central unit in Hoof District arrested three residents of Migdal Ha’Emek and detained them on suspicion of breaking into a car in Harish, and stealing redemption money from a grocery chain with a total value of over NIS 160,000.
According to a report by Eli Senior in News 13, among those arrested is the son of a senior officer of the Israel Police in another district.
This morning (Friday) a prosecutor’s statement was filed against them and later – an indictment will be filed.
The arrest of the bandits was made after a report was received by the police on Sunday of this week about a break-in to a private vehicle in the city of Harish and the theft of money from it.
A few minutes after the incident, the police arrested the three suspects – residents of Migdal HaEmek aged 42 and 28 and Shumara, aged 32 – near Harish, on suspicion of breaking into a vehicle for the purpose of theft, willful damage to a vehicle, conspiracy to commit a crime and more.
The stolen money, glass breakers, a face mask, pepper spray and more were found in the possession of the suspects.
From the police investigation, it emerged that the three suspects watched and followed a vehicle that was carrying ransom money from a chain of supermarkets, starting from Migdal Ha’Emek, the ultra-orthodox city of Raksim and Harish.
When the vehicle arrived at the Harish branch, the suspects broke into the vehicle after breaking a window and stole bags containing the ransom money amounting to NIS 164,000.
