At least seven, at most 10: this is the number of public holidays that fall outside weekends each year. In May 2018, the sequence of two non-working days during the same week (Tuesday May 8 and Ascension Thursday) was a rarity: it only occurs five times per century. The next occurrence of this calendar chance will only occur in… 2029, then in 2035, 2040, 2046, and will not reappear again until the end of the 21st century.e century.
Years with ten public holidays excluding weekends
The calendar is not always lenient for employees: four times every hundred years or so, May 8, the symbolic anniversary of the capitulation of Nazi Germany, is also Ascension Day. This was the case in 1975, 1986, 1997 and 2008. Rest assured, the next sequence is not scheduled before 2059, it will then take place in 2070, then in 2081 and 2092.
